We have some critical decisions to make during the final week of the 2012 South Dakota Legislative Session. When we leave Pierre on Friday, the legislature will have passed the General Appropriations bill that funds state government for fiscal year 2013.
This year, we will have around $12 million additional dollars to allocate on a one time basis due to revenue increases exceeding what we as a legislature expected. Extra one time funding to K-12 education and medicaid providers (with a special focus on community support provider funding) will be a high priority for most legislators.
